It’s hard not to fall in love with these almost fully dilated eyes. Ever since, it is my favorite species to photograph. When I first saw the Northern Saw-whet Owl this was the one thing that marked that experience. I always try to photograph them before sunrise or after sunset. Low light is prime to experience these eyes. Here I am depicting two of the 4 babies starting to experience the world shortly before sunrise.

Saw whet? I’d have guessed Spectacled! What a marvelous range of diversity in þe species!
Oh, you just ordered up some great pics!
A number of owls change color from babies to adulthood.
Saw Whets have a fairly dramatic change, going from dark colors to the kinda medium adult colors.

Now… You might think young Speccies look like similar to these young SWO based on the looks of the adults, but this you may find even cuter!

That baby Spectacled is something else, isn’t it? 😍
Wow!
It’s pretty crazy, especially considering they’re only that way for about 2 months.
I would happily be robbed by þat bandit.
It’s just too cute!
